Response to Alexis Bloomer

Response

Alexis is right for the most part. The music that is put out in this generation degrades women and glorifies drugs and crime. The one thing I can generally disagree on is her last line that says "we don't even respect our country." She didn't give any proof that we disrespect our country. I believe that, as a nation, we have the utmost respect for our country. Some of the things that are put out by certain people, like song artists and rappers, do have an influence on how our country is viewed as a whole, but it doesn't mean we disrespect our country. If she were to give evidence of how students aren't required to stand up for the Pledge, then that's an argument I would be willing to contribute to. I do believe that we should all be required to stand for the Pledge, but this response isn't about that. Alexis is correct. As a country, we show little to no respect for our elders and women. Women aren't being offered an arm to their car late at night like they should be, and elders aren't treated right in nursing homes. We cuss at young ages to show assertiveness, we post other people's agony and misery on Facebook and YouTube, and we don't show up for work throughout half of the week because of lazy work ethic. If this country was able to put in the work, get a good education, and learn the difference between empathy and sympathy, this would be a great nation to be in. Until that occurs though, this nations isn't what it once was.
