News Reading and Response (Day 3)

Democratic Lawmakers Sue Trump, Handing the President Another Legal Challenge

More than 190 Democrats in Congress have gotten together to sue President Trump on Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. They say that Trump is violating the U.S. Constitution by profiting from business deals involving foreign governments -- and doing so without congressional consent. In proof, Trump has sought -- and obtained -- valuable trademarks from China's government, but did not clear those transactions with Congress. In my opinion, if Trump did obtain trademarks from China without congressional consent, then he deserves to be sued. If he didn' t, he should give proof he didn't. Until either side happens though, I don't think Trump violated the Constitution.
