Long Waits and Long Odds For Those Who Need Social Security Disability
Stephanie Hashmi was diagnosed with systematic lupus, a medical condition in which the body's immune system attacks its own tissues and organs. At age 41, she's mainly bedridden. She applied for disability benefits, but was denied. In my opinion, it makes sense that the Social Security Administration is trying to tighten down on people getting benefits, but it's unethical to not look at a person's records before making a quick judgment on whether or not someone deserves benefits. If you went through her record, she was working her dream job and she did a good job of it. I believe SSA should look thoroughly through people's records before making a judgment.
